Privacy Policy

Snout is built so your pet’s data stays yours. Here’s exactly what’s collected and how it’s used.

Your pet’s data

Everything you enter in Snout — vet visits, medications, weight, photos, documents, and notes — is stored in your own private iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit. Snout does not have its own servers storing your pet’s health data, and we never sell or share it with advertisers.

Household sharing

If you invite someone to share a household (a Premium feature), the data for pets in that household becomes visible to the people who accept your invitation, via Apple’s CloudKit sharing. You control who’s invited and can stop sharing at any time.

Location, camera & calendar

Snout may ask for a few device permissions, each used only for what you’d expect and each processed on your device — never sent to any server we run.

Location is used only for optional arrival reminders, like a geofence around a vet visit or a boarding stay. It’s processed entirely on-device.

Camera & photos are used only when you choose to attach a photo to a pet’s record. Photos are stored the same way as any other pet data — in your own private CloudKit account.

Calendar access is used only if you turn on the optional Calendar Sync feature, to mirror vet visits, groomings, and stays into your Apple Calendar. This happens on-device via Apple’s EventKit — Snout doesn’t send your calendar data anywhere.

Analytics

Snout uses TelemetryDeck for aggregated, privacy-focused usage analytics (for example, which features are used) tied to your account, not to advertising identifiers. There’s no ad tracking and no third-party ad network involved.

In-app feedback

If you submit feedback from within the app, your message is sent to a backend we run on Cloudflare, which files it as a GitHub issue so we can address it. If you choose to include diagnostic logs, they’re stored as a secret GitHub Gist linked from that issue — not publicly visible. If you choose to include a screenshot, it’s uploaded to a public-read storage bucket and the image is embedded directly in the issue. If you provide a contact email with your feedback, we’ll use it only to follow up on that feedback.

Payments

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. Snout never sees or stores your payment details.

Your control over your data

You can export or back up your data from within the app at any time. Deleting the app, or deleting your iCloud data for Snout, removes your data — we don’t keep a separate copy.

Children

Snout is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of Snout after a change means you accept the updated policy.
